Local government is a foundational part of our democracy. But local democracy isn’t just about holding elections every three years – it’s about the day-to-day ways people have their say in the decisions that affect us all.
Enhance efficiency and accountability through reforms to council size while reducing unnecessary costs to ratepayers.
Review council employee wages and conditions to ensure fairness while delivering value for money to ratepayers.
Honour Te Tiriti and actively engage with mana whenua, fostering genuine partnership in decision-making.
Advocate for Mosgiel and Taieri to the council and work collaboratively to support local communities.
Re-envision public engagement and consultations with the board to be inclusive, accessible and approachable.
Engage with the community by holding monthly street meetings.
Move community board meetings around the Taieri area.
Invite the mayor to board meetings, which has not happened during my six years on the board.
Engage with the community on a one-to-one basis instead of a confrontational one to six basis as more relaxed submitters will give better information.
Continue to engage all cultures in the community like I have for the years that I have lived here. I love seeing all cultures in the area.
Seek more community interaction from all parts of the community and also respect all the cultures that make up these communities.
