Gisborne District Council

Tairāwhiti General Ward
The Gisborne District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). eight councillors will be elected from the Tairāwhiti ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. I am delighted to have returned home to live in the Gisborne inner city. I bring a fresh view to both our challenges and our remarkable potential as a region. I believe representing our community demands common sense, creativity and unwavering commitment and I am ready to deliver.

About me

I was born in Gisborne. I grew up rurally attending Ngātapa School and Girls High as a rectory boarder. I built my career in Hong Kong and Christchurch in the retail and wholesale business sectors. I am self-employed, passionate about health and wellbeing, and I love to support youth in team sports. I am a committee member of the Tairāwhiti Water Polo Club.

My priorities
  1. Create a safe and inspiring city centre that attracts and supports business and investment.
  2. Stop wasteful spending and cap unsustainable rates rises.
  3. Prioritise people over politics.
