Christchurch City Council

Coastal Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). one councillor will be elected from the Coastal ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am frustrated and I want results. Whilst we are seeing some momentum with developments in New Brighton, the ward still has so much outstanding earthquake legacy work to resolve. We are constantly seeing money spent on things that are not really necessary, like artwork, raised platforms and over-engineered cycle lanes, when in reality we should be prioritising fixing what is broken. It's a fantastic place to live and we deserve so much better.

About me

As a lifelong resident I love the area I know so well. I have been a strong voice advocating for our community since 2011, starting with a lead role with the Keep QEII in the East group, that successfully advocated for an aquatic facility at QEII Park, and have served two terms on the Coastal Community Board. My father was also city councillor for two terms. Doing what is right for our community is hereditary.

My priorities
  1. Prioritise earthquake legacy remediation as the top issue after waiting over 14 years and focus on equity and action.
  2. Repair and future proof stormwater infrastructure by rivers, the estuary and on beaches.
  3. Cut wasteful spending and do the basics properly to return pride to the city and make it beautiful again.
